How to Update Financial Data in FireNumber
The FirePlan page is your central hub for managing all your financial information. This guide will walk you through updating each section to create an accurate picture of your financial independence journey.
Accessing the FirePlan Page
- Log into your FireNumber account
- Navigate to the FirePlan page from the main menu
- You'll see five main sections to manage:
- Manage Income
- Manage Expenses
- Manage Goals
- Manage Assets
- Manage Accounts
Managing Your Income
Adding Income Sources
- Click on "Manage Income" section
- Click the "+" button to add a new income source
- Fill in the details:
- Income Type: Salary, Freelance, Dividends, Rental, etc.
- Amount: Your annual income in your selected currency
- Frequency: Yearly, Monthly, or One-time
- Start Date: When this income begins
- End Date: When this income ends (optional)
Common Income Types
- Salary: Regular employment income
- Freelance: Contract or gig work income
- Dividends: Investment income from stocks
- Rental Income: Property rental earnings
- Business Income: Self-employment or business earnings
- Pension: Retirement income
- Social Security: Government benefits
Editing Income
- Click the edit icon next to any income source
- Update the details as needed
- Click "Save Changes" to update
Managing Your Expenses
Adding Expenses
- Click on "Manage Expenses" section
- Click the "+" button to add a new expense
- Fill in the details:
- Expense Type: Housing, Food, Transportation, etc.
- Amount: Your annual expense in your selected currency
- Frequency: Yearly, Monthly, or One-time
- Start Date: When this expense begins
- End Date: When this expense ends (optional)
Common Expense Categories
- Housing: Rent, mortgage, utilities, maintenance
- Food: Groceries, dining out, meal delivery
- Transportation: Car payments, fuel, public transit
- Healthcare: Insurance, medical expenses, prescriptions
- Entertainment: Hobbies, subscriptions, travel
- Insurance: Life, health, auto, home insurance
- Taxes: Income tax, property tax, other taxes

- Click the edit icon next to any expense
- Update the details as needed
- Click "Save Changes" to update
Managing Your Goals
Adding Financial Goals
- Click on "Manage Goals" section
- Click the "+" button to add a new goal
- Fill in the details:
- Goal Name: Retirement, Home Purchase, Education, etc.
- Amount Needed: Total cost of the goal
- Target Date: When you want to achieve this goal
- Priority: High, Medium, or Low
Common Goal Types
- Retirement: Financial independence or traditional retirement
- Home Purchase: Buying a primary residence or investment property
- Education: College funds for children or personal education
- Emergency Fund: Safety net for unexpected expenses
- Travel: Vacation or travel goals
- Business: Starting or expanding a business
Editing Goals
- Click the edit icon next to any goal
- Update the details as needed
- Click "Save Changes" to update
Managing Your Assets
Adding Assets
- Click on "Manage Assets" section
- Click the "+" button to add a new asset
- Fill in the details:
- Asset Type: Real Estate, Stocks, Bonds, etc.
- Current Value: Current market value
- Expected Growth Rate: Annual growth percentage
- Liquidity: How easily you can convert to cash
Common Asset Types
- Real Estate: Primary home, rental properties, land
- Stocks: Individual stocks, ETFs, mutual funds
- Bonds: Government bonds, corporate bonds
- Cash: Savings accounts, checking accounts
- Retirement Accounts: 401(k), IRA, pension plans
- Business: Ownership in businesses or partnerships
- Collectibles: Art, jewelry, vehicles

- Click the edit icon next to any asset
- Update the details as needed
- Click "Save Changes" to update

Adding Accounts

- Click the "+" button to add a new account
- Fill in the details:
- Account Type: Checking, Savings, Investment, etc.
- Account Name: Give it a recognizable name
- Current Balance: Current account balance
- Institution: Bank or financial institution name

- Investment Accounts: Brokerage accounts for stocks/bonds
